  • Sunny Hill is located in York, Western Australia, in the Avon Valley.

We’re up on the hill overlooking Wonborel (Mount Brown) - close enough to walk in for a coffee or a beer but far enough away to enjoy the serenity!

Surrounded by rolling hills, York is a small heritage town which was founded in 1831, just two years after Perth. It features many beautiful heritage buildings including three original pubs.

Prior to European settlement, Balladong Nyoongar people lived on the land for many thousands of years and there are beautiful dreamtime stories of how this land came about.

For us, this landscape is quintessentially Australian. Golden summers, forests of pink and brown and lush, green winters.

We’ll send you the exact address on booking.

  • York is a beautiful small town - the oldest inland town in Western Australia - only 1.5 hours from Perth.

There are so many things to do to while away your time.

Architecture - York is home to many heritage buildings which are truly beautiful. A walk around town is a must.

Mount Brown - One of our favourite things to do is go up to the top of Mount Brown and look out across the surrounding hills and valleys. It’s a magical spot for sunset drinks.

The Avon River - York sits on the banks of the Avon River. If you have time, there is a beautiful walk along the river - and of course you must cross the hanging bridge and visit the beautiful Holy Trinity Anglican Church. It was consecrated in 1858.

Pub Lunches - We have three pubs in town and a few a short distance away all with their own unique personality. Definitely worth an explore and a beer or two!

Cafes and Lunch Bars - We have a bakery and some cute cafes/lunch spots to try out. Yummy treats await.

Cool and quirky shops to explore - Although far from being a shopping mecca (which we kind of love!), York is home to some unique stores that are very well loved. The lolly shop, bookstore, sock shop and good store to name a few.

Ice cream - No visit to York is complete without trying the ice cream (and olive oil) from York Olive Oil Company. It’s seriously next level ice cream - just trust us on this!

And if none of this takes your fancy, well you can do what we mostly do which is hang at Sunny Hill. It’s such a wonderful place to slow down, relax, enjoy each other’s company and literally smell the roses. Our hope is that you do just that.

  • Well that’s a hard question because it depends on what you like!

York has cold, crisp winters, long hot summers (with sensational evenings) and everything in between.

There is a busy calendar of events throughout the year so it really depends on your interests - motor cars, books, horse racing, walking, cycling, theatre, art, the canola season and more.

One of the things we love to do is watch a full moon rise over Mount Brown - so maybe you can add that into the mix too!

  • Sunny Hill can sleep up to 8 people.

It has two master bedrooms (one with an ensuite) and a bunk room that sleeps four. It’s perfect for a romantic getaway, a family retreat, girls getaway and more.
